If you're new to selling on eBay, see our pages below for more information:
How and when you get paid are different depending on whether you registered on eBay as a business or private seller.
Business sellers
As a business seller on eBay, you'll receive your payouts to your linked bank account.
Once the buyer's order is confirmed, you can post the item. Selling fees and other costs are automatically deducted from your sales proceeds before they appear in your account, and your sales proceeds will show as Processing funds in the Payments tab in Seller Hub.
It typically takes 1 day from confirming the buyer’s payment for the sales proceeds to appear as Available for payout, unless the transaction was placed on hold. To check if any of your payouts are on hold, select the button below:
Your payout schedule
We’ll begin sending payouts to your linked bank account when your funds become available. By default, payouts are initiated daily, but you can also change to weekly, fortnightly, or monthly payouts.
Here's how to change your payout schedule in Seller Hub:
- Go to the Payments tab - opens in new window or tab in Seller Hub.
- Select Payout Settings.
- Change the frequency of your payouts from daily to weekly, fortnightly, or monthly.
You can also change your payout schedule in Payments - opens in new window or tab in My eBay.
Here’s how you’ll receive your payouts, depending on your schedule:
- Daily payouts are initiated from Monday to Sunday and include any funds that have become Available for payout during the previous 24 hours
- Weekly payouts are initiated on Tuesdays and include any funds that have become available for payout from Monday to Sunday of the previous week
- Fortnightly payouts are initiated every second Tuesday and include any funds that have become Available for payout on Monday from the last two weeks
- Monthly payouts are initiated on the first Tuesday of every month, and include any funds that have become Available for payout on Monday from the previous month
You can also request your available funds to your linked bank account at any time in the Payments tab - opens in new window or tab by selecting Withdraw. If you’re on daily payouts, you won’t be able to request your available funds on demand, as you already have our fastest option.
Once we initiate a payout, it will appear as Funds sent in My eBay and the Payments tab in Seller Hub, and it will take up to 4 business days to clear in your bank account, depending on your financial institution.

At eBay, we protect your personal information and on-file banking credentials at all times. Learn more about how we protect your personal information in our article on Tips for keeping your eBay account secure. - opens in new window or tab
Private sellers
Once the buyer's order is confirmed, you can send your item, and any applicable fees or other costs will be automatically deducted from your sales proceeds before they appear in your account.
Until delivery is confirmed, your sales proceeds will show as Pending in the Payments tab - opens in new window or tab in Seller Hub. The funds will be added to your eBay balance typically 2 days after delivery confirmation, unless the transaction was placed on hold - opens in new window or tab.
Tip
To get your funds faster, we recommend using Simple Delivery - opens in new window or tab or other eBay postage labels, which include tracking, and sending your order as soon as possible after the buyer pays.
When sales proceeds will be available
Starting 6 February, 2025, eBay will typically make the sales proceeds of private sellers available in your eBay balance after the order has been successfully delivered, unless subject to a hold. We'll use these criteria to determine when an item has been successfully delivered:
- For tracked deliveries, funds will be available 2 calendar days after we receive confirmation from the tracked service that the delivery was successful
- For local collection, funds will be available within 24 hours after you enter the 6-digit confirmation code the buyer received by email, or when the buyer scans the QR code
- If the item includes Authenticity Guarantee - opens in new window or tab, funds will be available within 24 hours after the item is successfully authenticated
- For items sent via Global Shipping Programme - opens in new window or tab, funds will be available within 24 hours after the item is delivered to the UK Shipping Centre
- For untracked deliveries, or tracked deliveries with no delivery confirmation, funds will become available 14 calendar days from the order date
- For untracked, single-quantity, single-item orders priced £10 or less, funds will be available after positive feedback is received from the buyer, or 14 days from the order date, whichever comes first
Your funds will appear as Pending in the Payments tab in My eBay or Seller Hub. You'll be able to use your pending funds to purchase postage labels and issue refunds to the buyer.
Funds can also appear as Pending when there’s an open case or while we’re awaiting verification. Visit our article on Payments on hold - opens in new window or tab and our Payments Terms of Use - opens in new window or tab for more information.
Withdrawing your payouts
Once your funds are showing as Available for payout in the Payments tab in My eBay or Seller Hub, you can request payouts directly to your linked bank account by entering the amount, and selecting Withdraw. Once your funds are in your eBay Balance, you can withdraw them at any time, and it can then take 0-4 business days for your bank to process your payout once the funds are sent.
If you don’t use or withdraw your balance, we’ll automatically send your available funds to your bank account on the first Tuesday of every January, April, July, and October. For more information, visit our article on eBay balance - opens in new window or tab.
After we initiate a payout it will appear as Funds sent in My eBay and the Payments tab in Seller Hub. It takes between 0-4 business days for the funds to clear in your bank account and become available to you.
Payout statuses
Payout statuses are the same for business and private sellers. Here's an explanation of each payout status:
- Created: A Payout ID has been created and the payout process has started
- In progress: The payout has been initiated by eBay and is in the process of being sent to your bank
- Funds sent: Your payout is successful. eBay has sent your payout, it could take 0-4 business days for your bank to process the funds to your bank account
- Returned: The payout has been initiated by eBay, but an issue has occurred with your bank or eBay
- Blocked: Your payout method could be invalid, or may have been blocked by eBay
- Cancelled: Your payout was unsuccessful, and the balance has been added back to your Available funds
Tracking your payouts
Tracking your payouts is simple. We’ll send you an email to let you know that we’ve initiated a payout. Additionally, each payout has its own unique Payout ID - opens in new window or tab, making it easy for you to keep track of your funds.
We also provide a bank reference ID for each payout, so you can track your payouts with your bank if you need to. You can find your bank reference ID in Payout details in Seller Hub.
How bank holidays affect your payouts
Some bank holidays may delay your payouts, so if you request your payout on a bank holiday or if your payout is scheduled daily, your payout may be delayed by up to 1 day. For example, if the buyer's order is confirmed on Sunday, and the holiday is on Monday, the payout will be initiated on Wednesday (3 days later).
For business sellers, if your payout is scheduled weekly, a bank holiday may delay your payout by up to 8 days. If your payout is scheduled fortnightly, a bank holiday may delay payouts up to 10 days, or if scheduled monthly, your payouts may be delayed up to 20 days. For example, if the buyer's order is confirmed on Friday, and the holiday is on Monday, the payout will be initiated on the Tuesday of the following week (8 days later).
Tip
If the buyer pays in a currency that's different to your payout currency, the payment will be converted to your payout currency. The currency exchange rate will be captured at the time of sale and can be viewed in the order details. This exchange rate will apply in the event of a refund.
