What is the policy?

Custom printed products are allowed on eBay if the materials don’t include unauthorised third-party content (such as images, logos or pictures of individuals used without the rights owner’s consent).

Examples of custom printed items not allowed under this policy include, but are not limited to:

  • Phone cases decorated with a well-known designer handbag pattern made without authorisation
  • Stickers in the shape of a well-known sneaker logo, without licensing
  • T-shirts that you printed with a well-known company’s logo on them, without proper licensing
  • Tote bags featuring pictures of a famous musician without consent
  • Water bottles personalised with pictures of children’s cartoon characters copied from a brand’s website

Custom products must follow all eBay policies, including:

Activity on eBay is required to follow this policy, the eBay User Agreement and all applicable laws, as well as respect the rights of third parties. If it doesn’t, eBay may take action consistent with applicable laws and the eBay User Agreement, and may even be legally required to do so. Such actions may include, as an example only: Removing the listing or other content, issuing a warning, restricting activity or account suspension.

Why does eBay have this policy?

This policy prevents the sale of items that infringe the intellectual property rights of third parties, which could expose sellers to legal risk. Removing these items protects sellers and their buyers from buyer protection claims and financial loss.
