Sellers can list certain animal and wildlife products on eBay such as faux or reproductions of animal products. However, it is up to the seller to check whether selling or shipping these items requires a licence, permit, or other paperwork.
What is the policy?
- The following wildlife products are not allowed:
- Items made from endangered or threatened species - opens in new window or tab or species listed on CITES Appendix I - opens in new window or tab
- Items from an animal listed on CITES Appendix II - opens in new window or tab offering international shipping
- Items found in the policy from the Coalition to End Wildlife Trafficking Online - opens in new window or tab
- Ivory, bones, or other products from dugong, elephant, hippopotamus, narwhal, orca, sperm whale, or walrus
- Items made from bears
- Items made from marine mammals
- Items made from protected turtles or tortoises
- Items made from protected birds
- Items made from domesticated cats or dogs
- Items made from snake venom

When listing items using animal parts, you must state the species of the non-endangered or non-threatened animal and follow these guidelines:
- No animal or part of an animal of a species listed in Schedule 5 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act - opens in new window or tab, or the Schedules to the Wildlife Acts 1976-2000, may be listed on eBay unless the seller can produce documentary evidence confirming that they have not been taken from the wild illegally
- No animal or part of an animal of a species listed on Annex A of the EU Wildlife Trade Regulations - opens in new window or tab may be sold on eBay unless accompanied by an Article 10 certificate as issued by the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), or the Irish Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government
- International shipping of animal products must follow all country laws

Activity on eBay is required to follow this policy, the eBay User Agreement and all applicable laws, as well as respect the rights of third parties. If it doesn’t, eBay may take action consistent with applicable laws and the eBay User Agreement, and may even be legally required to do so.
