Top-Rated misrepresentation policy

Adding eBay badges or making claims of account status in an item description is not allowed.

Ensuring buyers receive great service from all of our sellers is one of eBay's top priorities, and we encourage the proper use of seller status.

What is the policy?

  • Sellers are not allowed to use the eBay Top-Rated Seller (eTRS) logos, icons, or similar artwork on eBay, other websites, or offline materials
  • Sellers may not make any claims about being a Top-Rated Seller in their item description, even if they hold that status
  • eBay's name and logos are registered trademarks protected by Intellectual property law, and sellers need permission - opens in new window or tab to use them

Activity on eBay is required to follow this policy, the eBay User Agreement and all applicable laws, as well as respect the rights of third parties. If it doesn’t, eBay may take action consistent with applicable laws and the eBay User Agreement, and may even be legally required to do so. Such actions may include, as an example only: Removing the listing or other content, issuing a warning, restricting activity or account suspension.

Why does eBay have this policy?

This policy protects the eBay Top-Rated Seller status, and prevents abuse by users who may not actually have this status.
