Signing in to your account

After you’ve registered with eBay, you should sign in to your account whenever you’re looking to buy, sell, or just browse. Once you’re signed in, we can personalise your shopping experience and show you items you might like based on your interests.

You’ll need to sign in to your account to access My eBay - opens in new window or tab, where you can keep track of all your buying and selling activities, view items you’ve saved to your watch list, and find your favorite sellers and searches. You’ll also need to be signed in to exchange messages with other eBay members.

You can sign in using your email or username, or with Facebook, Google, or Apple, if you’ve linked your accounts.

Signing in with Passkeys

Passkeys let you sign into your eBay account using a fingerprint, pattern, or PIN. This means you don’t need to enter your password, and it will help protect your eBay account against unauthorised access. You can set up passkeys from the prompt when you sign into your eBay account, or from the Sign in and Security settings in your eBay account.

  1. Go to My Account.
  2. Select Sign in and security.
  3. Passkeys should be the first option. If not, go to the Passkeys option.
  4. Select Turn on on the right-hand side.
  5. You’ll be prompted to sign in using your current method.
  6. When you see the Sign in faster with passkeys screen, select Add a passkey.
  7. You’ll be prompted to add a passkey. On iOS, you can select Continue with Touch ID or Other options.

You’ll see a confirmation message saying you added a passkey.

If you can’t sign in to your eBay account

If you experience any problems signing in, here are a few things to check:

  • Make sure Caps Lock isn’t on
  • Look for spelling errors
  • If you recently changed your username or password, your browser might remember your old information. Try manually entering your new username and password

If you’re still having problems logging in, you can reset your password - opens in new window or tab.

Tip
